Wartburg overpowers Storm in conference match

INDIANOLA, Iowa -- An early lead slipped away for Simpson College women's soccer in a 3-1 loss to Wartburg on Saturday in American Rivers Conference action.

Cassie Nash scored her eighth goal of the season in the 19th minute to give the Storm (7-5-1, 1-2-0 A-R-C) an early advantage. The netter is the first goal the Knights (10-1-1, 3-0-0 A-R-C) have conceded in three contests.

Wartburg evened the score just ahead of halftime with a goal in the 45th minute from Hayley Howe. The visitors gained the lead in the 56th and padded the buffer in the 61st minute to outscore their last three opponents 8-1.

Nash led the offense with five shots and Liz Naasz recorded three. In goal, Brenny Frederick tallied three saves.
