Seiler’s 13 saves not enough against Wartburg

WAVERLY, Iowa -- Zoe Seiler made 13 saves but the Simpson women's soccer team couldn't get past conference front-runner Wartburg, losing 5-0 on Saturday.

Appearing in her third game of the season, Seiler notched the seventh, double-figure save performance of her career.

Simpson is now 4-11 overall and 2-5 in the American Rivers Conference, good for a tie with Coe for sixth place. Wartburg is 12-4-1 and 6-1-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Wartburg got on the board twice early with goals from Nicole Adair and Morgan Finch. Warburg led the shot count in the first period 23-0.

Wartburg extended its lead in the second half getting goals from Anna Rood, Molly Close, and Ali Morrow. Simpson's Caitlyn Berkey had the Storm's best opportunity of the game, but was unable to put the ball past the Knights' goalkeeper Hayley Krogh

Simpson hosts Coe in the regular season finale on Tuesday, Oct. 23. The winner earns the sixth and final spot in the American Rivers Conference Tournament. Start time is set for 5 p.m. as the Storm look to qualify for the conference tournament for the first time since 2013.
