Nagy’s early goal not enough against Central

PELLA, Iowa -- Baileigh Nagy scored an early goal to put the Simpson women's soccer team ahead but Central came back to secure a 3-1 win in the American Rivers Conference opener on Saturday.

With the loss, the Storm fall to 2-6 overall and 0-1 in the American Rivers. The Dutch improve to 5-2-1 and 1-0 in league play.

How it Happened

17' | Baileigh Nagy collected a loose ball in the box and buried it in the back of the net to give Simpson an early 1-0 lead. Jessica Payne deflected the ball to Nagy, who moved into a tie for the team lead with her second goal of the season.

31' | Simpson held off Central until the 31st minute when Olivia Denham went upper 90 to tie the game 1-1.

71' | The Dutch got a favorable bounce when Mikaela Erickson fired a shot that deflected off Madeline Schulenberg and into the net for the go-ahead score.

83' | Central added a goal in the closing minutes when Simpson decided to push numbers forward in an effort to generate the game-tying goal. Erin Manion was the beneficiary for the Dutch.
