Seiler comes up big in 2-2 tie with Clarke

DUBUQUE, Iowa — Zoe Seiler had another big game with 16 saves -- including one on a penalty kick-- and the Simpson women's soccer team came from two goals down to earn a 2-2 draw with Clarke on Tuesday.

Three days after a 14-save effort in a loss to Wartburg, Seiler came within one save of tying the school record. After surrendering two goals in the first 28 minutes, Seiler kept Clarke out of the net for the final 82-and-change.

Maddie Glascock and Jessica Payne scored goals for the Storm (1-6-3), who snapped a three-game losing streak. Glascock got Simpson on the board in the 35th minute on a helper from Lauren Stillman and Payne tied it in the 57th minute.

Devan Stieber scored both goals for the Crusaders (3-5-1), who also snapped a three-game losing streak.

Simpson was outshot 25-15 on the day but played the role of aggressor in the final overtime period. The Storm kept the pressure on the Clarke defense, taking three shots in the final 10 minutes. Payne and Mackenzie Stump put shots on goal.

Seiler's biggest save of the night came in the 96th minute, when she denied Stieber a hat trick by saving her penalty kick attempt. Seiler made five saves in overtime alone.
