Storm drop tight contest to Concordia Chicago

INDIANOLA, Iowa - The Simpson women's soccer team matched Concordia Chicago stride for stride, but the result wasn't a favorable one.

Sydney Fuller scored in the 24th minute, the only goal of the game, and the Storm lost to Concordia 1-0 Sunday afternoon despite putting twice as many shots on frame.

The Storm (3-10) outshot Concordia 11-10 and held a 6-3 edge in shots on goal. Mackenzie Stump put three of her five shots on goal to lead Simpson.

Fuller scored when she collected a loose ball in the box off a corner kick, giving the Cougars (5-8) their third straight win.

One of Simpson's best opportunities came in the closing minutes, when Concordia goalkeeper Ally Krajnak vacated the net to make a play on a cross. Simpson wasn't able to get a clean foot on the loose ball, though.

Zoe Seiler made two saves and Ally Krajnak had six for the Cougars.
