INDIANOLA, Iowa - A pair of early goals turned out to be the difference as No. 22 Luther beat the Simpson women's soccer team 2-0 Saturday.
Lauren Hughes converted from the top of the box i nthe 10th minute and Madison Speer connected on a set piece from the left win in the 11th for the Norse (11-1, 3-0 Iowa Conference).
The Storm (3-9, 0-3) defense tightened the rest of the way, thanks in large part to the play goalkeeper Zoe Seiler. The freshman made a career-high 10 saves, keeping Simpson in the game in the second half.
Simpson went without attempting a shot in the first half but took four in the second.
