GRINNELL, Iowa - The Simpson women's soccer team came within minutes of earning a positive result in Jill Serafino's first game as head coach.
Instead, Jordan Maddaus knocked in the game-winner two minutes into the second overtime and Grinnell came back to steal a 2-1 win in Saturday's season-opener.
The Storm (0-1) took a 1-0 lead in the 66th minute when Megan Lankford found the back of the net. Carolyn Sulverman came up with the equalizer with less than five minues to play.
Kristin Riley and Zoe Seiler split goalkeeping duties. Riley made three saves in the first 45 minutes and Seiler finished the game, making two saves.
