Vikings raid overwhelms Simpson, 5-0

INDIANOLA, Iowa – The Simpson's women soccer team was ambushed by Grand View's relentless second half attack as the Vikings (6-2-1) escaped unscathed in a 5-0 triumph Wednesday night at Buxton Stadium.

Simpson's two-game win streak and built up momentum were halted despite a 0-0 score at halftime. The Vikings surged to open up the second half by tallying four goals in the span of just 18 minutes. Most of the damage was done by freshman Kelsie Walter who racked up her second and third goals of the season in the barrage. The Storm (2-6) fought the good fight but couldn't overcome a Viking offense that outshot Simpson 15-2 overall and 9-0 in the second half. Two days after her first career goal sophomore Kate Morford supplied the only shot on goal of the night during the first half for the Storm.

Despite the setback the Storm employed the fountain of youth as their weapon of choice as only three upperclassmen, all juniors, have received significant playing time throughout the season. The budding Simpson squad prepares for their next challenge as they look to tame the University of Wisconsin Stevens-Point Pointers this upcoming Saturday at 5:00 PM in Buxton Stadium.
