Storm light up scoreboard in win over AIB

INDIANOLA, Iowa – On the strength of four first half goals the Simpson women's soccer team cruised to an easy 13-0 win against an over-matched AIB squad Tuesday night.

Amber Johnson had two goals and an assist to lead four players with a pair of goals each for the Storm (9-6), who took 51 shots on the night.

Jess Toyne, Heather Adolph and reserve Alex Stucky all scored two goals apiece to help Simpson score the third-most goals in a game in school history and the most since scoring 14 against Upper Iowa in 2003.

Madison Densmore, Susan Leslie, Stephanie Cox, Amy Loverin and Ashlee Krider all added a goal. Krider provided the game-winner with her goal at the 4:57 mark.

Due to a rash of injuries on a team already short on numbers, the Eagles (1-13) put just six field players and a goalkeeper on the pitch for the entire math. Breanna Haberl took the lone shot for AIB and Samantha Noffke made 16 saves.

Megan Petersen had an easy night in goal compared to her last outing. Against Luther on Saturday, Petersen needed 10 saves to help Simpson preserve a 2-1 win. On Tuesday she didn't need a single save for her sixth clean sheet of the year.

Simpson returns to conference play Saturday, Oct. 20 against Loras. The Storm will recognize their seniors in the final home game of the season. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.
