Young group leads Storm at Buena Vista Open

STORM LAKE, Iowa -- The Simpson wrestling team competed at the Buena Vista Open on Saturday as six grapplers picked up wins for the Storm.

Dalton Cockman finished second in the Consolation B Championship after securing four victories at 165 pounds. Cockman had decisions of 7-6 and 8-3, as well as major decisions of 13-0 and 9-0.

At 125 pounds, Dylan McChesney began his day with a slim 1-0 win over Buena Vista's Brandon Foster. After a next round loss, McChesney bounced back with a pin in 1:11, before coming up short in a 6-5 bout to end his afternoon.

Bryan Cordova tallied a win at 285 pounds with a pin in the second period. Mason Kruljac earned a 12-6 win at 157 pounds for his first triumph of his career. After an opening round loss, Shyler Langley bounced back with a 20-2 technical fall to secure his long win of the day. Sam Mathis competed in three matches after advancing on a medical forfeit.
