Peters grabs first win as Storm head coach
INDIANOLA, Iowa -- Head coach Dylan Peters tallied his first career win at the helm of the Simpson wrestling program on Thursday as the Storm handed Augustana a 38-2 loss inside Hopper Gymnasium.
The dual was highlighted by Simpson (1-3) garnering three pins during the contest. Sam McCoy picked up his second pin of the year, this time in 2:57 over Alex Cruz at 141 pounds. Shyler Langley grabbed a fall at 184 in 1:52 for the team's quickest takedown of the meet. In the next bout, Sam Mathis earned his fourth of the season, this time coming in 4:25 at 197.
Jakob Slavin erupted for a 15-3 win at 149 pounds to tally a major decision, while Dalton Cockman powered his way to the team's second major decision at 165. Cockman ended with a 9-0 score for his first win inside Hopper Gymnasium.
Dylan McChesney improved to 4-0 in dual meets with a slim 2-0 decision at 125 pounds to start Simpson off with a win in the nonconference matchup. Jason Padilla tacked on his second triumph of his sophomore season with a 12-5 decision at 133 pounds.
In the 157-pound match, Robert Silva added another win to his dual record after securing a 7-3 outcome. Colton Kinnison ended the contest with an 8-2 decision at 285 to even his season dual record at 2-2.
