Storm paced by pair of 3rd place performances

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Brett Roberts and Taylor Witzel paved the way for the Storm in the Coe Turkey Invitational after both earned a third place finish in the 174 and 184 lb divisions, respectively.

In the double elimination tournament Roberts got off to a hot start winning his first two matches via the fall. His next match resulted in a loss but he bounced back with two straight wins by decision to claim third place. He finished 4-1 on the day.

Witzel was on the wrong side of 5-3 decision in his first match but won three straight to bring home the third place prize. He went 3-1 in the tourney.

Seven other Simpson wrestlers each tallied a win as the Storm concluded the day with a combined 14 victories.

Simpson next takes to the mat Dec. 5 at Central in Pella, Iowa.
