Women's golf endures rain-soaked third round
INDIANOLA, Iowa — The Simpson women's golf team endured buckets of rain to card a 376, holding on to fourth place after the third round of the Iowa Conference Women's Golf Championship from Indianola Country Club.
The final groups had to leave the course due to darkness on holes 17 and 18 and will complete the round prior to Saturday's fourth and final round.
Both teams in Simpson's group — Dubuque and Nebraska Wesleyan — also shot 376. The Storm hold an eight-stroke lead over the Spartans and lead the Prairie Wolves by nine strokes. With the first group yet to finish the round, Wartburg leads Luther by five strokes for the lead while Central is third.
Lydia Martin and Hannah Gordon each carded a 91 to lead the Storm in the challenging elements. Martin finds herself in 12th place with a three-round total of 250 while Gordon is in 16th at 255.
Courtney Mabeus moved up to a tie for 28th with Simpson's third-best round of the day, a 96. Haley Booton slipped to 25th after carding a 98 and Kelsa Berkland shot a 103 to round out the Storm's lineup.
