Simpson sixth after 18 holes at Central

PELLA, Iowa – Reining Iowa Conference Golfer of the Week Jennifer Gaffney shot a 13-over 85 to lead the Simpson women's golf team on day one of the Central Invitational at Bos Landen Golf Course on Friday.

Gaffney is tied for fourth in the 42-person tournament, 10 strokes behind leader Taylor Hill of Central.

As a team, Simpson shot 375 on the day, good for fourth of six teams. Central (345) leads the way, followed by Grinnell (349) and Loras (351). Simpson leads Dubuque by six strokes (381).

Stacy Bergeson cracked the top-20, sitting in a tie for 19^th with Dubuque's Dionna Jensen after shooting a 93. Molly Hill (96) is tied for 24^th, Kiley Wermersen is 26^th (98), Jessica Lerdal is 29^th (99), Jamie Knock is tied for 35^th (109), Allison McArtor is 39^th (116) and Lesley Pearey is tied for 40^th (117).
