Vikings pull away from Storm in second half

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The Simpson College women's basketball team fell short in its second game at the Hyatt Place Tournament, dropping a 75-64 decision to Augustana.

The Storm (0-2) trailed 19-12 at the end of the first but used a big 19-4 run in the second quarter to lead 33-30 at the break. Haley Rasmussen led the team with seven points during that span, while Morgan Pietig and Dylan Holland both knocked down triples.

A layup by Molly Lutmer broke a 41-41 tie midway through the third quarter, but Simpson was held scoreless for nearly five minutes as Augustana (1-1) built an eight-point lead. The Vikings led by as many as 13 in the fourth quarter, shooting 9-for-15 from the floor in the frame.
