Team effort propels Storm past Kansas Christian

INDIANOLA, Iowa — Kelli Hanson scored a game-high 12 points, the Storm scored 72 points off the bench, and the Simpson women's basketball team rolled to a 97-23 win over Kansas Christian on Friday evening at Cowles Fieldhouse.

Janey Botkins went 3-for-5 from behind the arc in the first half and Tori Hazard scored eight in the first five minutes as the Storm (6-3) took an early lead and never looked back.

The bench led the way in the second half as Madie Bacon, Cassie Chubb and Maddie Glascock all posted career-high points. Chubb led the Storm with seven rebounds and three steals while Glascock had a team-high seven assists.

In their first career games for Simpson, Hanson went 7-for-10 on the night to score 12 points and Josie Clarke added six.

The Storm defense forced 23 turnovers and held the Falcons (1-9) to under 10 points in every quarter to set the school record for fewest points allowed in a game.

• Simpson improves to 2-0 against Kansas Christian.
• Simpson shot above 50% for the 4th time this season.
• Every Simpson player got into the scoring column for the second time this season.
• Kansas Christian's 23 points became the fewest points allowed by the Storm defense in school history. The previous record was 25 points set against Coe in the 1979-80 season.
