Balanced play powers Simpson to win over Lakeland

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. – Three players scored in double-figures and the Storm went 19 of 21 from the free throw line as Simpson won 77-58 over the Lakeland College Muskies on Saturday afternoon in the Lakeland Tournament consolation game.

Maddie Bosworth and Noreen Morrow scored 15 points each to lead the Storm and Britney Boland followed up with 13. Morrow also reeled in 12 rebounds for her first career double-double.

Apart from trailing less than 90 seconds into the game, Simpson (1-1) dominated on the afternoon, leading by as many as 21.

Simpson was outrebounded 42-30 in yesterday's loss to Nebraska Weselyan but the Storm reversed that on Saturday, outrebounding 48-39 Lakeland (0-2).

12 players got on the court for the Storm who poured in 23 bench points.

Senior Whitney Van Wyk filled up the stat sheet, grabbing a team-high nine rebounds to go with two assists and two steals.

Kayla Clark went 5 of 12 from the floor for 15 points in the loss for the Muskies.
