PELLA, Iowa - Morgan Terpstra came within two rebounds of a double-double and a suffocating defense helped the Simpson women's basketball team to a 58-35 win over Central on Wednesday night.
Terpstra scored a game-high 14 points and the defense held Central to 24 percent shooting as the Storm (9-7, 4-1 Iowa Conference) won their fourth game in a row.
Brittany Hedrick added 13 points and reserve MacKenzie Haupt came off the bench to score 11 on 3-for-3 shooting from 3-point range.
Central scored the first eight points of the game but managed just eight the remainder of the half as Simpson closed on a 27-8 run. Simpson's first basket didn't come until 3 minutes, 8 seconds into the game.
Courtney Kelderman scored nine points off the bench to lead the Dutch (9-7, 1-4).
Simpson returns home to face Wartburg on Saturday, Jan. 25. The Knights (8-8, 2-3) beat Buena Vista 82-77 in overtime on Wednesday.
