Ehresman, Bell sweep IIAC honors

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Simpson swept Iowa Conference softball accolades for the period ending Sunday, March 25 as sophomore designated player Kasiah Ehresman earned Iowa Conference Female Athlete and Softball Position Player of the Week honors while freshman pitcher Emily Bell took home Pitcher of the Week honors, the league office announced Monday.

IIAC Performers of the Week

Simpson posted a 3-1 mark over the weekend at the North Park Invitational in Chicago, improving to 14-4 on the season.

A transfer from Coe, Ehresman hit .500 on the week, scoring five runs and driving in one. The Sully, Iowa product went a perfect 4-for-4 in stolen base attempts and posted a .563 on-base percentage. She recorded at least one hit in each game, scoring both runs in the Storm's 2-0 win over Olivet on Saturday while going 2-for-3 at the plate. Ehresman is hitting .522 on the season, good for third in the Iowa Conference.

Bell earned pitcher of the week honors for a second time this season after a pair of complete-game shutouts. The Aurora, Colo. product posted a 0.00 ERA in 12 innings, allowing just six hits and striking out 15. She fanned eight in the Storm's 2-0 win over Olivet on Saturday and allowed just two hits a 9-0 win over North Park on Sunday. Bell improves to an IIAC-best 7-1 with a 1.09 ERA on the season. Her 67 strikeouts are also tops in the league.
