Storm roll Minnesota-Morris, fall to Wheaton

CLERMONT, Fla. -- The Simpson softball team split play Friday at the PFX Spring Games, beating Minnesota-Morris 11-0 before losing a tough 9-8 contest to Wheaton (Ill.).

The Storm are now 10-2 in Florida with two games remaining.

Simpson 11, Minn.-Morris 0 (5 innings)
Taylor Davis drove in three runs, Ashley Allen went 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles and Emily Bell fanned 11 without a walk in the complete-game win.

Simpson led 2-0 before breaking the game open with a three-run third. Two runs scored when Davis reached on an error and Madi Bennett brough in Davis on a sacrifice fly. Both Allen and Kayla Reusche roped two-RBI doubles in a sixth-run fourth that cut the game short due to the run rule.

Wheaton 9, Simpson 8
The Storm came back from a five-run deficit to take an 8-7 lead in the top of the sixth but Wheaton scored two in the home half to hold on for the win.

Bennett drove in the game-tying run on a single and Brooke Brommell scored on a throwing error to give Simpson the lead. Allen and Davis had three hits apiece and Allen drove in a pair of runs. Bell suffered the loss in relief, tossing the final frame.
