Athletic department signs five-year deal with BSN SPORTS, Nike

The Simpson athletic department has signed a five-year agreement with BSN SPORTS to be the official supplier of athletic apparel and equipment for all 19 varsity sports. Under the partnership, Nike will become the exclusive supplier of the Storm’s uniforms, apparel and accessories.
Bob Nutgrass appointed Athletic Director

Simpson College President Jay Simmons announced Wednesday that Bob Nutgrass, a long-time staff member and current assistant athletic director, will become the college’s next Athletic Director. He replaces Brian Niemuth, who has held the role for the past five years in addition to serving as the head women’s basketball coach.

Allen named second team Academic All-American

Simpson softball player Ashley Allen has been named to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-America® Softball Team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The junior earned second team honors to become Simpson’s first Academic All-American since 2005.
Rasmusson, Allen, Davis earn All-Region honors

Three members of the Simpson softball team earned a spot on the 2018 All-Midwest Region Team, as selected by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). Madison Rasmusson landed a spot on the first team while Ashley Allen and Taylor Davis were second team selections.

Samantha Bratland and Courtney Cooper combined for a shutout, Ashley Burrows and Bailey Hocker homered and Luther beat the Simpson softball team 8-0 in six innings in the first round of the Iowa Conference Tournament on Friday afternoon at Clark Field.

he Simpson softball team couldn’t overcome slow starts in Tuesday’s doubleheader at Loras, losing both games 3-2. The Storm’s seventh-inning rally fell one run short in game one while Loras won the nightcap on a walkoff.

Storm split with Dubuque in tale of two games

Simpson gave starter Emily Bell more than enough cushion in game one but the bats fell silent in game two as the Storm came away with a doubleheader split against Dubuque on Wednesday, winning game one 5-1 before falling 2-0 in the nightcap.
