Softball earns team academic honor, seven players recognized

The Simpson softball team made the grade in the 2016-17 season, earning the title of All-Academic Team from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). Additionally, seven individuals took home All-America Scholar-Athlete honors.

The Storm posted a 3.399 cumulative GPA last season, good for 69th in Division III out of 125 schools that qualified for the honor.

Along with the team honor, student-athletes Ashley Allen, Hattie Liechty, Maggie Long, Alyssa Mathews, Kayla Reusche, Kaleigh Snyder and Sydney Vrban earned All-America Scholar-Athlete honors for maintaining a 3.5 grade-point average or higher. A total of 1,825 Division III student-athletes earned the award.
