Storm drop heartbreakers at Nebraska Wesleyan

LINCOLN, Neb. — The Simpson softball team lost a pair of one-run contests at Nebraska Wesleyan on Tuesday, losing game one 2-1 and falling 6-5 in game two.

Game 1
Simpson spoiled a solid outing by Maggie Long, who allowed just two runs in six innings of work. Brooke Brommel had two hits and scored the lone run for the Storm (5-17, 0-4 Iowa Conference), coming home on Brianna Chaplin's RBI single in the sixth. 

The Prairie Wolves (15-9, 2-2) scored both runs in the second. Nicole Vana drove in the first run on a single and Madi Francis drew a bases-loaded walk.

Game 2
Ashley Allen went 4-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs as the Storm built a 5-0 lead. The last run came in the seventh on a double by Brommel, who finished the day with two RBIs.

Nebraska Wesleyan plated six runs in the seventh, getting a walkoff double from Nicole Belfiore, her second hit of the inning. 

Madison Rasmusson allowed one run off six hits in six innings of work. Rachel Freland started the seventh, walking three and giving up a hit. Long suffered the loss, allowing the final run.
