Storm move up to No. 4 in regional rankings

INDIANOLA, Iowa - The Simpson softball team is ranked No. 4 in the most recent NCAA Division III Midwest Region Rankings, released Thursday, April 28.

The Storm were ranked No. 6 in the initial rankings last week, but surpassed Central and Buena Vista to take the No. 4 spot. Four of the eight teams in the Iowa Conference appear in the most recent rankings, including top-ranked Luther, Simpson's next opponent.

Simpson is 29-8 overall and holding onto second place in the Iowa Conference standings at 8-4 with two games to go. The Storm are set to host Luther for Senior Day this Saturday, April 30 at 2 p.m.

About the Midwest Region

The Midwest Region consists of 41 teams representing seven states and five conferences. Including all members of the Iowa Conference, all teams in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC), St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC), and Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) fall into the Midwest Region. Washington U. in St. Louis represents the University Athletic Association and Nebraska Wesleyan is an independent. Iowa Wesleyan is a provisional member.
