Van Vleet named IIAC Pitcher of the Week
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Abbie Van Vleet took home Iowa Conference Pitcher of the Week honors for the period ending Sunday, April 13.
A sophomore from Indianola, Iowa, Van Vleet went 2-1 in the circle, winning both halves of the doubleheader against Dubuque. She won the first game in relief, tossing two hitless innings and striking out one in Simpson's 4-3 win. She went the distance in game two, scatting nine hits and striking out three in a 6-4 win.
Her lone loss of the week came in a heartbreaking 2-1 loss to Coe. She tossed all 10 innings, striking out four.
Van Vleet earned Player of the Week honors for the second time this season. She was named Iowa Conference Position Player of the Week on March 9.
