• Named director of track and field and cross country on June 3, 2021 after serving as head cross country and assistant track and field coach since 2011

Recent Cross Country Accomplishments Under Moenck

• 2022: both teams finished top 8 at regionals, with the women's seventh place showing being the highest since 1991... both squads were regionally ranked in all nine polls released, with the men coming in as high as sixth and the women as high as seventh
• 2021: the men's team sent multiple runners to nationals for the first time since 1986... the men also achieved the highest regional ranking in program history at No. 6... the women placed fourth at the league championships and ninth at regionals, the best results since 2009 and 1991, respectively
• 2020: the men garnered their highest finish at the conference championships in 30 seasons and had three all-conference performers, the most since 1988

Before Simpson

• Coached middle distance and distance runners at NCAA Division III University of St. Thomas for two years, helping the Tommies win Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) championships in women's indoor and outdoor track and field
• Spent two seasons at NCAA Division II Augustana University, where he started as a graduate assistant before being promoted to assistant cross country and track and field coach in 2010
• Helped the Vikings win consecutive Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) championships in women’s cross country and turned in two, top-15 finishes at the national meet (fifth in 2008 and 13th in 2009). The men’s team won a conference title in 2009 and placed 10th in the nation.

Running Career

• Lettered for the cross country and track and field teams at the University of Iowa, where he was primarily a distance runner
• Served as team captain of the cross country squad as a senior in 2007
