McKenzie qualifies for cross country nationals

INDIANAPOLIS — Senior Ian McKenzie will represent Simpson at the 2017 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championship, as announced by the NCAA on Sunday.

McKenzie earned the bid following a 20th-place finish at the NCAA Central Region Championship on Saturday, Nov. 11 in Northfield, Minn. He is one of just 56 individuals not a part of a qualifying team selected to participate in the championship.

Principia College serves as the host institution for the championship, which will be held on Saturday, Nov. 18 at the North Farm Facility in Elsah, Ill.. The men's race will begin at 12 p.m. Eastern time followed by the women's race at 1:15 p.m. Eastern time.

The Des Moines, Iowa native becomes the 13th national qualifier in school history and first since Joe Farrand in 2012.
