McKenzie named IIAC Performer of the Week

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — Ian McKenzie earned Iowa Conference Men's Cross Country Performer of the Week honors for the period ending Sunday, Sept. 24, the conference office announced earlier this week.

A senior from Des Moines, Iowa, McKenzie won the Brissman-Lundeen Invitational at Rock Island, Ill. on Friday, Sept. 22, leading the Storm to a first-place finish of 22 teams. McKenzie finished the four-mile course in 21:14.0, topping the field of 215 runners.

The win is the first of McKenzie's career. He becomes the first Simpson runner to earn the weekly accolade since Ryan Edwardson on Oct. 16, 2011.
