Thompson, Willadsen pace Storm men at loaded field

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. — Trey Thompson and Blake Willadsen paced the Simpson men's cross country team at a loaded Brissman/Lundeen Invitational on Friday evening, leading the Storm to a 17th-place finish of 21 teams.

Thompson placed 52nd in the field of 380 finishers, navigating the 8-kilometer course at Saukie Golf Course in a 26:39.8. Willadsen wasn't far behind, taking 57th in 26:42.0.

The Storm finished with 399 points in their first 8k competition of the season. The invitational featured two races, one for the Blue Division and one for the Gold Division. Simpson ran in the Blue Division and would have placed 17th of 52 teams if the divisions were combined.
