Storm men win eight titles at Central Dual

PELLA, Iowa — Dylan Kalinay won the 60 meters and the 60 hurdles, and the Simpson men's track and field team took home eight first place finishes in a dual at Central on Friday, the final tune-up before next week's Iowa Conference Championships. 

Kalinay was one of seven Storm athletes to take home titles as Simpson dropped a narrow 73-71 decision to close the regular season.

Kalinay ran the 60 meters in a career-best 7.04 seconds as the Storm swept the top three spots. Emmitt Wheatley finished second in 7.05 and Travis Tupper took third in 7.15. 

Kalinay also led a dominant performance by the Storm in the 60 hurdles, running 8.21 (one-hundredth of a second off a career best) to lead the field. Isaac Frazier finished second in 8.56 seconds and Sam Adeniyi ran a season-best 8.61 to take third. 

Keagan Zwiefel (200), Kirk Wicks (400), Jordan Coughenour (800), Jonathan Facio (mile), Mitch Stoltzman (pole vault) and Austin Greenwalt (triple jump) also won events for the Storm. 

UP NEXT
The Storm travel to Dubuque for the IIAC Indoor Championships on Friday, Feb. 24 to Saturday, Feb. 25. The University of Dubuque serves as host.
