Men's tennis reaches milestone in win over Buena Vista

INDIANOLA, Iowa - Geoff Converse earned a pair of wins and the Simpson men's tennis team beat Buena Vista 6-3 on Saturday.

The Storm (10-8, 1-3 Iowa Conference) earned their first conference win of the season against a short-handed Buena Vista squad that was forced to forfeit two points due to lack of players.

Simpson snapped a three-game losing streak to get to 10 wins, the most in a season since 2004 and just the sixth 10-win season in school history.

Converse beat Will Connelly 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5 singles and joined Pierce Carey to tally an 8-6 win at No. 2 doubles.

Zach Kusick and Peter Rietgraf joined Converse with singles wins. Kusick beat Chris Habermann 7-5, 6-2 at No. 1 and Rietgraf edged Steven Will 6-3, 6-2 at No. 3.

Rietgraf's win gives him 39 for his career, tied for third in school history with David Venables (2001-04).

Up next: Simpson goes to Dubuque to face Dubuque and Loras on Saturday, April 23.
