Simpson falls to Cornell in home opener

INDIANOLA, Iowa – The Simpson men's tennis team dropped its home opener against Cornell on Saturday, losing 7-2.

Aaron Smith won a first-set tiebreaker en-route to a 7-6 (5), 6-2 win at No. 5 singles and the doubles team of Connor Barnard and Gabe Dubberke earned an 8-2 win at No. 3 doubles for the Storm (3-10).

Barnard had a near miss at No. 2 singles, losing 7-5, 7-5 as the Storm couldn't keep up with their former Iowa Conference foes.

Simpson is off until April 11 when it hosts Loras and Dubuque on the first day of IIAC play.
