Kusick named Tennis Player of the Week

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – For the second time this season, Simpson's Zach Kusick has been named the Iowa Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week, picking up the most recent honor for the period ending Sunday, April 6.

Kusick, a sophomore from Westminster, Colo. (Broomfield), went 4-0 as Simpson picked up conference victories over Dubuque (8-1) and Loras (7-2) on Saturday, April 5. Competing in the No. 1 spot in both singles and doubles, Kusick beat Dubuque's Dishon Deering 6-0, 6-0 and Loras' Brian Falvey 6-4, ret in singles. In doubles, he and Peter Reitgraf beat Dubuque's Deering and Andrew Calahan 8-3 and Loras' Falvey and Sam Steingraeber 8-1.

The wins improved Kusick's record on the year to 9-7 in singles and 11-8 in doubles as Simpson moved to 7-8 on the year. The seven wins are the most by a Simpson team since 2008-09.
