Simpson falls to Dubuque, Loras

DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Simpson men's tennis team dropped a pair of matches over the weekend, losing to Dubuque 9-0 and Loras 6-3.

Alex Hook and Jeff Armstrong provided the scoring for the Storm (4-13, 0-6 Iowa Conference) against Loras in Saturday's second match.

The duo notched an 8-3 win at No.2 doubles, the team's only doubles win.

In singles competition, Hook beat Brian Falvey at No. 2 in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1. Armstrong then defeated John Keane at No. 3 singles, taking the super tiebreaker 6-4, 4-6, 10-8.

Adam Summitt and Daniel Schneider had a near miss at the No. 1 doubles spot, losing a hard-fought 9-7 decision to Falvey and Jon Moore. Summitt faced Moore at the No. 1 spot in the singles competition, winning the first set before falling 7-5, 3-6, 10-2.

The Storm don't take the court again until Saturday, April 21 when they host Wartburg at 11 a.m.
