Storm set three more records Friday at Liberal Arts

DECORAH, Iowa -- Noah Nelson and Nick Keller broke individual records and helped set another new mark in the 200 medley relay to highlight the Simpson men's swimming and diving team Friday at the Liberal Arts Championships.

Simpson is in eighth-place with 141 points through the first 27 events. The competition concludes Saturday with the 200 backstroke, 10 freestyle, 200 breaststroke, 200 butterfly, 400 freestyle relay, 1,650 freestyle and women's one-meter diving. Prelims begin at 10 a.m. with finals getting underway at 6 p.m.

Highlights
• Nelson broke his own school record in the 400 IM, touching the wall in 4:11.24. He placed third overall and second among Iowa Conference swimmers, the Storm's best finish of the championship to this point. The school record is his second of the weekend.
Nick Keller is the new school record holder in the 100 backstroke after finishing in 54.06 seconds, topping the mark of 54.76 set by Tyler Marine last season. He placed fifth overall and second among IIAC swimmers.
• Keller and Nelson joined Ryan Gaumer and Noah Bruns to set the school record in the 200 medley relay. The quartet finished in 1:39.54 to place seventh overall, besting the previous mark of 1:40.17 set last season.
