Nelson wins three events in loss to Austin College

SHERMAN, Texas — Noah Nelson took home three wins as the Simpson men's swimming and diving team opened the new year with a 126-74 loss at Austin College on Thursday.

Simpson won four events in all but fell to 0-5 in dual competition this season.

Nelson continued his outstanding rookie campaign by winning the 500 freestyle (5:11.21), the 1,000 freestyle (10:25.40) and the 200 IM (2:01.80). His time in the 200 IM is just a second off his season-best.

Simpson's other win came in the 200 freestyle relay, where the team of Noah Bruns, Ryan Gaumer, James McKee and Nick Keller took home gold after finishing in 1:35.71.
