Men's swimming drops conference dual to Loras

DUBUQUE, Iowa — The 400 freestyle relay team posted the third best time in school history with a win and the Storm had four other first-place finishes, but could not come out on top against Loras Friday night.

The Duhawks won the dual 114-90.

James McKee, Tyler Marine, Ethan Woodruff, and Dylan Gray teamed up for the 400 freestyle relay to post a time of 3:29.37. The school record time is 3:23.03, set in the 2014-15 season. Gray is in the school's top five record relay times.

"Loras has some very good swimmers and I was happy to see us go out and try to stay with them," head coach Tom Caccia said. "We have improved every year against them and it is developing into a great rivalry."

Cody Carlson swam his first races of the season, finishing first in the 100 freestyle with a time of 52.35 and second in the 50 freestyle in 22.81.

A freshman, Sam Law won the 1000 freestyle race by over 20 seconds, posting a time of 11:41.76.

Tyler Marine finished first in the 200 backstroke, marking the best time of his career at Simpson (2:11.42). He currently holds the third best time in school history.

Phoenix Russell finished first in 1-meter diving (11 dives), with a score of 212.90.

UP NEXT
The Storm travel up to Beloit, Wis. to face Beloit and Ripon tomorrow, Saturday, Nov. 19. The time is set for 2 p.m.
