Storm split with Nebraska Wesleyan in final home dual
INDIANOLA, Iowa – The Simpson swimming and diving teams combined to win 12 events while earning a split against Nebraska Welseyan in the final home dual of the season at Indianola YMCA on Saturday afternoon.
The women's team picked up its second win of the season by topping the Prairie Wolves 130-105. The men lost 145-108.
Megan Buitendorp took the day by storm for the women, seizing three, first place finishes. On the men's side, Kyle McKim, Nathan Schneider collected a win in a pair of second-place efforts.

WOMEN'S RECAP
Buitendorp earned three wins on the day, including two in individual events. She swept the backstroke competition, winning the 100 (1:08.42) and 200 (2:30.52). She also appeared in the first place 200 medley relay alongside Alex Vander Veen, Haley Blum and Tori Haag (2:03.35).
Haag took first in the 50 freestyle(26.97), adding second-place efforts in the 100 breaststroke (1:18.57) and 500 freestyle (5:53.55). The women also had first place finishes by Katie Rubins in the 1,000 freestyle (13:13.61), Vander Veen in the 200 butterfly (2:46.02) and Mackenzie Carson in one-meter diving (157.50).Mackenzie Carson took first place in the one-meter diving with a score of 157.50
MEN'S RECAP
The duo of McKim and Schneider each won one event and placed second in two to lead the Storm in the final tune-up before the Liberal Art Championships in February.
McKim took first in the 100 breaststroke (1:03.23) and came in second in the 200 breast (2:26.61) and 200 IM (2:13.33). Schneider swam away with first in the 200 IM (2:13.06) and finished second in both the 100 and 200 backstroke, with times of 1:03.22 and 2:13.57, respectively.
Freestyler Matthew Van Brogen and diver JJ Hansen gave Simpson its other three wins. Van Brogen won the 500 free (5:56.18) while Hansen won unopposed in the 1-meter (167.50) and 3-meter (167.65) competitions.
Cody Carlson chimed in with a pair of second place finishes in both the 50 (23.21) and the 200freestyle (1:55.07).
