Storm swim well but fall to Loras

DUBUQUE, Iowa – Kyle McKim was a part of three school records and Christina Amburgy won two events for the Simpson swimming team as the Storm fell to Loras on Friday night.

The men's team lost 126-47 and the women's team fell 112-52.

"The team swam well for the first dual meet of the season," interim head coach Eric Crawford said. "We are coming off a hard week of practice leading into our mid-season meet. So it's great to see them swim fast even though they are tired."

McKim set an individual record in the 100 breaststroke and was a part of the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relay. McKim swam a 1:05.67 in winning the 100-breaststroke and teamed up with Nathan Schneider, James Tillison and Scott Wailes in winning the freestyle relay (1:39.52) and in taking fourth in the medley relay (1:53.64).

"Kyle did an amazing job today," Crawford said. "He has been working hard and today definitely paid off."

Amburgy won the 50 free in 26.96 and the 100 free in 59.41. Megan Lein added a win in the 100 breaststroke (1:20.46).

"The relays for both the men and the women were great to watch," Crawford said. "Since we are such a close-knit team, it's great to see us come together and swim fast."

Simpson goes to Omaha, Neb. for the UNO Invitational the weekend of Nov. 30.
