Storm take down Buena Vista for road conference win

STORM LAKE, Iowa - The Simpson College men's soccer team disposed of Buena Vista by a score of 4-2 in American Rivers Conference play.

The Storm (5-7, 2-1 A-R-C) bounced back from a tough loss at home against Luther, scoring four goals in the first 60 minutes to easily dispatch the Beavers (1-9-2, 0-4 A-R-C). The Storm had a different goalscorer on all four goals, with the final three coming in a 10-minute span in the second half.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Storm got on the board early, with freshman Tim Sedlock striking just 12 minutes in for his first career Simpson goal.
  • Buena Vista kept the lead to 1-0 until halftime, but the Storm added three in a 10-minute span in the second period.
  • A familiar face in Ronaldo Ordaz scored his 11th goal of the season just five minutes into the second half.
  • Junior Matt Hasken, a mainstay in the Storm lineup, added his first goal of the season less than two minutes into the second half with an assist from Ordaz.
  • Andrew Russell wrapped up the scoring for the Storm, adding the fourth on the hour mark with Ordaz providing the assist again.
  • Buena Vista did not go away quietly though, cutting the lead to 4-1 in the 67th minute.
  • The Beavers tacked on another with less than two minutes to go, but there was no more time to complete any sort of miracle comeback.
