Storm earn hard-fought victory over Iowa Wesleyan

INDIANOLA, Iowa – Baraka Ellie and Justin Gilmour each scored a goal and the Simpson men's soccer team beat Iowa Wesleyan 2-0 on Tuesday at Buxton Stadium.

The win helped the Storm (3-2) snap a two-game skid while remaining unbeaten at home. Spencer Young was a key contributor on the win, assisting on both goals.

The Storm's back line was impressive, holding the Tigers (2-2-1) to just six shots compared to Simpson's 17. Only three Iowa Wesleyan shots were on goal, all of which were saved by goalkeeper Jake Potratz.

Ellie scored the first goal of the game -- and first of his career -- off a header at the far post in the 27th minute. Young got the opportunity started with a cross. Gilmour netted the second goal for the Storm in the 55th minute, with the help of both Ellie and Young on the play. The goal ties Gilmour for the team lead in goals on the season with two.

Simpson is now 3-0 all-time against Iowa Wesleyan.
