Potratz named IIAC Defensive Player of the Week for third time

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — Simpson men's soccer player Jake Potratz earned Iowa Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors for the period ending Sunday, Oct. 1 after helping the Storm remain undefeated, the league office announced earlier this week.

A freshman goalkeeper from Norwalk, Iowa, Potratz earned the award for the third time this season after posting a 2-0 mark on the week. He had 11 saves over the two-game stretch, a 3-0 win over Iowa Wesleyan and a 2-1 win at Dubuque. He made four saves against the Tigers and seven in the road win over the Spartans.

At the time of the award, Potratz led the conference with 47 saves while posting the second-best goals against average (0.81).

Following Wednesday's dramatic 2-1 win over Nebraska Wesleyan, the Storm improved to 11-0-1 on the year and 2-0 in the Iowa Conference.
