Storm blank St. Mary’s for third straight win

WINONA, Minn. — Tanner Alderson scored two goals for the second game in a row, Donevan Roe had two assists and the Simpson men's soccer team won its third straight game, shutting out St. Mary's (Minn.) 3-0 on Monday.

Alderson scored two goals in Simpson's 5-0 win over Coe on Tuesday and kept his hot streak going against the Cardinals. Sam Stephens scored the other goal for the Storm (9-6-1), who are making a four-game losing streak look like a distant memory after posting their third straight shutout win.

Simpson didn't hit the back of the net until the second half when Alderson scored what would be the game-winning goal in the 63rd minute off an assist from Garrett Pochop and Connor Robson. Stephens added an insurance tally in the 77th minute and Alderson added a third goal with 45 seconds to play.

Alberto Centeno made 10 saves in the losing effort for the Cardinals (6-7-1).
