Storm post convincing shutout against Westminster

INDIANOLA, Iowa - Garrett Pochop scored his third goal in two games, three different players got in the scoring column and the Simpson men's soccer team dispatched Westminster 3-0 on Saturday.

An NCAA Tournament qualifier the past three season and the preseason favorite to win the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, Westminster couldn't get anything going against the Storm (2-0), who allowed just four shots on goal.

Pochop put the Bluejays (1-1) under early when he flicked in a header off a Colin Robinson corner in the fifth minute. Donevan Roe made it 2-0 in the 40th minute when he played a through-ball from Josh Harry from 10 yards out.

The back line held strong throughout the second half, helping goalkeeper Chris Harris turn in the first clean sheet of his career. Tanner Alderson put the finshing touches on the gem when he beat the goalkeeper and took advantage of the empty net in the 65th minute.
