Men's soccer can't hold early lead, falls to AIB

DES MOINES, Iowa - Renato Firmento scored the go-ahead goal in the 75th minute as AIB came back to beat Simpson 2-1 on Monday night.

Firmento's goal came in the 75th minute, breaking a 1-1 tie after the Eagles (2-4) trailed 1-0 at halftime.

Jordan Lucas came up with the equalizer for AIB in the 48th minute.

The Storm (4-3) started the contest strong, getting on the board first when Flynn Collins assisted Collin Hemann for a 1-0 lead in the 38th minute.

Simpson outshot AIB 13-11 and held a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks.

Zach McEntee made two saves for Siompson and Jacob O'Meara-Gill had three for AIB.

Simpson is on the road Tuesday when it takes on Fontbonne in St. Louis.
