McEntee save sparks men's soccer win over Nebraska Wesleyan

INDIANOLA, Iowa – A highlight-reel save by Zach McEntee swung momentum in Simpson's favor and trigged three goals in a 6 minute, 38 second span as the men's soccer team beat Nebraska Wesleyan 4-0 on Wednesday night.

Louis Joslyn, Mitchell White, Marcus Varnum and Collin Hemann all found the back of the net for the Storm (2-1).

The game was much closer than the final score revealed, and just inches away from going in favor of the visitors.

Despite controlling play for most of the night, Simpson held a 1-0 lead late in the second half when a foul in the box gave Nebraska Wesleyan a golden opportunity to tie the contest.

With the game on the line, McEntee played Drew Miller's penalty attempt perfectly, laying out to his right for the save.

The stop provided a spark for the rest of the team, and just like that, the flood gates opened.

Less than 90 seconds later, in the 73rd minute, White drew a foul in the box and made good on his penalty kick for a 2-0 Simpson lead. Varnum tacked on a third goal with a breakaway down the left side in the 75th minute and Hemann went upper-90 from 25 yards out in the 79th minute to close the scoring.

McEntee left the game in the 84th minute to a raucous round of applause. He closed the night with three saves, not including a handful of aggressive plays that prevented Nebraska Wesleyan from even attempting a shot.

Andy Larson made five saves in goal for the Prairie Wolves (0-2), who were outshot 17-10 and took just two corner kicks to Simpson's 10.

Joslyn scored the first goal of the day just over five minutes into the contest when he took a touch from White and buried his first goal of the season.
