Men's soccer drops narrow decision to Upper Iowa

FAYETTE, Iowa - Fausto Ordenana scored the lone goal in the 68th minute as Division II Upper Iowa escaped with a 1-0 win over the Simpson men's soccer team on Monday afternoon.

Ordenana collected a loose ball in the box and found the back of the net from seven yards out for the Peacocks (8-5-1).

Simpson fared well against the scholarship players, outshooting one-time Iowa Conference foe Upper Iowa 17-13. Mitchell White and Josh Harry each took four shots and put one shot on goal apiece for the Storm (10-4-2), who put six shots within the confines of the frame to Upper Iowa's five.

Luke Aronow made four saves for Simpson and Jordan Bell had six in the shutout for Upper Iowa.

The competition doesn't get any easier for Simpson. On Wednesday, the Storm make the short trip to Des Moines to take on Grand View, currently ranked No. 5 in NAIA. The Vikings (13-2) have won five in a row.
