Neumann's golden goal gives Simpson OT win

PELLA, Iowa – Tyler Neumann dribbled around Central goalkeeper Tim Maggard and scored an open-net goal five minutes into overtime as the Simpson men's soccer team opened Iowa Conference play with a 2-1 win on Saturday.

Neumann scored both goals for the Storm (7-0-2, 1-0 Iowa Conference), who remain undefeated.

His first goal came on a header in the 57th minute, tying the game 1-1. The game winner occurred at the 95:11 mark.

Josh Farris scored the game's first goal in the 44th minute, giving the Dutch (5-4-1, 0-1) a 1-0 lead in the first half.

Luke Aronow made four saves for Simpson and Maggard finished with five for Central.

The Storm face their biggest test of the season when they travel to fifth-ranked Loras on Tuesday, Oct. 1.
