DECATUR, Ill. – Another game. Another 1-0 win for the Simpson men's soccer team.
Mitchell White scored the game-winner, the defense dominated and Simpson shut out Millikin 1-0, its third-straight, 1-0 win to start the season.
Although the Storm (3-0) won by the slimmest of margins, they were in control of the game the whole way. Simpson outshot the Big Blue (0-4) 18-5 and didn't allow a shot on goal all afternoon.
White's goal came early in the match. Tyler Neumann – who scored the game-winner in each of Simpson's first two games – assisted White in the 13th minute.
The margin was enough for the Simpson defense, which made Austin Schafer's first career start an easy one. The freshman didn't have to make a save on his way to the complete-game shutout.
Simpson puts its perfect record on the line Wednesday, Sept. 11 when it travels to Nebraska Wesleyan.
