Big second half sparks win over AIB

INDIANOLA, Iowa – Louis Joslyn scored two goals and Simpson had a big second half en-route to a 6-1 win over AIB on Tuesday night.

The Storm (10-6-1) led 2-0 at intermission but scored twice in a 30-second span early in the second half to put the game out of reach.

Spencer Cook and Tyler Neumann took advantage of deflections during Simpson's surge in the 63rd minute. Cook cleaned up after Hugo Macedo couldn't handle a shot from Marcus Varnum at the 62:25 mark and Neumann headed in a cross from Mark Lahart which deflected off Macedo just 30 seconds later for a 4-0 lead.

Renato Firmento took advantage of an empty net in the 85th minute, providing the lone score for the Eagles (7-10).

After a slow start, Joslyn got the scoring started when he one-timed a great cross from Tyler Neumann in the 33rd minute. The freshman added his second goal of the game in the 68th minute for his first career multi-goal game.

Just 15 seconds before halftime, Kyle Kusy played a ball from Garryson Ridgely that pounded off the post. In the right place at the right time, Cameron Wright was there for the rebound to give Simpson a 2-0 lead.

Pat Alt put Simpson's final tally on the board in the 75th minute when he got past the keeper for his first goal of the season.

In all, Simpson sent 31 players to the field.

Luke Aronow made one save during the first 45 minutes to pick up the win. Zach McEntee and Rayn Chabal each appeared between the posts during the second half.

Simpson travels to Mount Vernon, Iowa on Wednesday for a 4 p.m. kickoff with Cornell. The game marks the first non-conference meeting between the two school since Cornell joined the Midwest Conference at the beginning of this season.

Notes: Tonight's win marks the fifth time Simpson has scored five or more goals in a game this season, more than the last six seasons combined (3) ... Simpson's 10th win is the most since the 2003 squad won 12.
